II FBE International Contract Competition - WARSAW, 12th - 14th May 2017

Dear President,

Please let me inform you that the FBE is starting the second edition of the FBE International Contract Competition for young lawyers at apprenticeship (training) or equivalent level. This year’s competition follows a very successful 2016 edition which gathered 10 teams from the Member Bars of the FBE.

As previously, the competition will contribute to such objectives of the FBE as promoting exchanges of young lawyers, ensuring the level of professional quality and technical competence of lawyers, establishing a permanent link between Member Bars and establishing relations between lawyers from different countries.

The competition will be run by the FBE Legal Education Commission, which is chaired by the Madrid Bar Association. The host of the competition is the Warsaw Bar Association. It will take place will on 12th - 14th May 2017.

The competition is an educational event in which young lawyers from different jurisdictions meet each other to simulate commercial contract case. The case is based on a business situation of business partners from different countries that would like to start cooperation. Lawyers’ teams (“law firms”) from different jurisdictions form pairs and prepare a contract. The general purpose of the competition is to educate young lawyers to cooperate with people from other countries while supporting their clients on the European market. The competition will help this way Member Bars to fulfil the duty of educating young lawyers at the apprenticeship level in a modern, attractive and engaging form.

We would like to invite Member Bars of the FBE to send their teams to Warsaw to take part in this competition. A team may consist of 2 lawyers prepared for international cooperation. The language of the event is English.

Declaration of participation may be submitted by the Member Bars by e-mail on the attached application form by the 31st of March 2017.

Please find attached to this letter the information pack with all the details regarding the FBE International Contract Competition.

We warmly invite the Member Bars to encourage young lawyers to take part in this event and support them. We hope that all participants will find the contest very attractive and beneficial.
